Waltham Forest Integrated Care Directorate invites applications for the post of Support Time & Recovery Worker (STR Worker) within Community Mental Health Services. The services are undergoing a Transformation project to enhance the delivery of mental health provision in the area and these additional posts have been created as part of this service improvement.
We are looking to appoint enthusiastic, flexible individuals with a passion for supporting service users with mental health conditions on their recovery journey. As a team, we embrace and promote the Recovery Model and expect our staff to work within these models, working with Service Users within their homes, the wider community and clinical settings.
The successful applicant should:
- Be able to evidence a good General Education to GCSE or equivalent
- Have relevant experience in mental health services where a degree of autonomous working has been required.
- Demonstrate a knowledge of an understanding of the need to use an enabling approach
- Be able to demonstrate the ability to work on their own initiative, have good time management skills and be able to prioritise workload effectively.
- Be able to demonstrate well developed interpersonal skills especially when handling conflict and change and should have the appropriate skills to facilitate the resolution of difficulties.
Main duties of the job
- Show willingness to provide high levels of emotional support to service users and carers.
- The post can be emotionally demanding and the applicant will be expected to be able to address and explore this within supervision, team meetings and also within informal work related support systems.
The post holder needs to be able to work autonomously in the community and use their own initiative under the guidance of qualified staff. They work closely with the team's multi-disciplinary professionals to deliver effective and competent recovery focused care to adults with severe mental health needs, both in their own homes and in the local community. The role has a strong focus on recovery and wellbeing.
The services work with people aged 14 to 65 in the London Borough of Waltham Forest. The team supports people with mental healthneeds fromtheir initial referral to secondary mental health services, through to those with severe and enduring mental illness. The teams focus on patients presenting with first episode of psychosis.
The successful candidate will be expected to support the groups run by the team, as well as engaging with patients who requires extra support to engage in activities and intervention.

Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
High Cost Area Supplement - London
This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,313 and a maximum payment of £5,436 per annum pro rata).
