This is an exciting post that has been developed to help improve health access for children in school .
The post holder will work with the Project Lead to plan and monitor the Asthma Allergy Friendly Schools initiative across Barking and Dagenham . The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the effective and efficient implementation of the planned work . The post holder will ensure that the necessary systems and support is in place to allow each school to work towards and achieve Asthma and Allergy Friendly School status. This will include the day to day liaising with school staff, children and their families, pharmacists and the North East London Asthma practitioners. The post holder will be expected to attend schools in person as required.
Main duties of the job
- Working on partnership with the 0-19 School nurses, schools . BHRUT specialist Asthma team , parents and children
- Assist in the implementation of Asthma and Allergy Friendly Schools initiative across Barking and Dagenham by providing support and guidance to school staff
- Contribute to the promotion of and communications around Asthma and Allergy Friendly Schools across the Borough
- Assist in supporting the needs of children and young people with asthma in a school by identifying areas, issues, events or procedures that may have a negative effect on their asthma or allergy care
- Build and maintain key working relationships with school staff and the school nursing team(s)
- Regularly meet with pertinent school staff and the school nursing team to initiate and review Asthma and Allergy Friendly Schools' status
- Provide high level organisational care for children with asthma to support the management of this long-term condition in a school setting
- Responsible for promotion of specific resources and signposting to assist schools in completion of relevant training and achieving Asthma and Allergy Friendly School certification
- Implement high level co-ordination and project management skills that are sensitive and responsive to the needs of children and their families as well as the requirements of the schools, with support from wider team members
- Ensure regular evaluation of the project and implement change as indicated /required
About us
Starting with NELFTNELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. - Liaise effectively and regularly with wider members of the team to ensure delivery and implementation of project goals are co-ordinated and effective
- Contribute to the development/aims of the project/initiative
- Represent the team on internal and external groups as appropriat
