In collaboration with Dementia UK, North East London Foundation Trust (NELFT) are looking to recruit a registered nurse (RN, RNMH, RNLD) with a passion for, and experience of, providing relationship-centred dementia care with a strong sense of advocacy and equalities for this client group.
Admiral Nurses are specialist dementia nurses who work with and support people with dementia and their families who have complex needs. You will provide specialist one-to-one support, guidance, and practical solutions for families, alongside supporting best practice and providing role modelling across Havering.
The successful applicant will be a NMC registered nurse, with relevant post-registration clinical experience of working with people with dementia and supporting their carers/supporters in different settings.

Main duties of the job
The Admiral Nurse will support, deliver and coordinate relationship-centred dementia care within Havering in order to improve the experience of carers/families affected by dementia with complex needs.
In line with the Admiral Nurse Competency framework at a specialist level, the post holder will provide:
- Specialist bio-psycho-social assessment and support for people with dementia and families with complex needs
- Facilitation of education and training for staff in the delivery of evidence-based dementia care
- Support with policy development and quality improvements in relation to dementia care
- Consultancy to other health and social care professionals regarding dementia.

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).
Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
High Cost Area Supplement - Outer London
This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £4,313 to a maximum of £5,436 p.a. pro rata for part time).
