Band 6-7 Developing Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist An exciting position has arisen for an experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join a well-established, innovative and supportive team in the London Borough of Havering. This role would be suitable for a current band 7 or band 6 Therapist wishing to develop their skills and progress to a band 7 role pending meeting competencies.
Main duties of the job
Main duties and Key responsibilities include:
o Working autonomously as a Highly Specialist SLT within the community team. Training and support will be provided to develop knowledge and skills as required for the role.
o You will support the development of our AAC provision in partnership with other local services and existing team members.
o Providing an effective service in Havering for children with moderate to complex communication difficulties and those reliant on alternative methods of communication (AAC). This includes clients with/without an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
o Providing an advanced standard of assessment, clinical diagnosis, treatment and management of communication difficulties in children. To evaluate outcomes of assessments and to provide advice and disseminate information.
o Devising and delivering appropriate, highly specialist intervention/care plans/enhanced models of SLT for clients.
o You will work as part of integrated children's services alongside colleagues in Paediatrics, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and CAMHS, ensuring the delivery of joined up care plans.
o Supporting the leadership of the children's speech and language service in Havering.
o Training and specialist supervision will be provided as needed.
About us
o Provide specialist training for other professionals within the area of communication development and difficulties and assist in the development of skills relating to this area for colleagues including SLTs, SLTAs, speech & language therapy students, teaching assistants, SENCos and early years' staff.

Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
Higher Cost area Supplement
This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £4,108 to a maximum of £5,177).
