Job summary
The NEFLT Barking, Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge Nutrition and Dietetics team has an exciting opportunity for a 2 year Fixed term Band 6 Paediatric Dietitian to join our team, predominantly delivering care in Redbridge.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic and confident Community Paediatric Dietitian to join the growing team who deliver care across Barking, Dagenham Redbridge and Havering.
The successful candidates will be fully supported by a well-established adult and paediatric team to provide specialist advice, education and support to patients, carers, and other health professionals. They must be passionate about paediatric dietetics including home enteral feeding. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop skills in specialist areas and will be fully supported in their development.
The team has a strong commitment to professional development, training and are passionate about student placements.
The postholder must be able confident to deliver care in in person and virtually. They must be able to travel efficiently. NELFT provides options for flexible and hybrid working for the successful candidate.
Main duties of the job
Main responsibilities:
- Provide specialist dietetics assessment and treatment for children and families living in Barking, Dagenham, Redbridge and Havering.
- To represent the nutrition and dietetic service within the multi-disciplinary team, to ensure the delivery of a co-ordinated service, and integrate nutritional advice into the treatment programme.
- To be able to cope with, be sensitive and be non-judgemental with patients.
- To be able to provide advice in a sensitive manner within the child's environment.
- To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own work, including the management of patients/clients in your care.
- Work within NELFT Trust clinical guidelines and professional guidelines and to have a good working knowledge of national and local standards.

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).
Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
High Cost Area Supplement - Outer London
This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £4,313 to a maximum of £5,436 p.a. pro rata for part time).
