Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the NELFT BCG immunisation team.
Would you like to broaden your skills and understanding of the BCG vaccination and its role in protecting the population from tuberculosis? Develop and understanding of this devastating disease and our efforts to eradicate and make a difference!
An opportunity to understand Serious Combined Immunodeficiency Disease (SCID) and its implications on the giving of the BCG vaccination.
We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and experienced staff nurse on a 9 month fixed term contract to join our service.
Competence in the technique of giving BCG will be an advantage, however training will be provided.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be deliveringthe Paediatric BCG programme within the NELFT four London boroughs of Barking & Dagenham, Havering, Redbridge and Waltham Forest to neonates and infants who are eligible for the vaccine
The post holder will be expected to provide a high quality immunisation service, must have attention to detail and be passionate about improving quality, safety standards and patient experience.
Our friendly team consists of BCG immunisation nurses and support staff. The team sits within targeted children's services in Barking and Dagenham, with opportunities to work alongside and gain experience from other clinicians and specialities.

About us
Starting with NELFTNELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

Probationary PeriodThis post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).High Cost Area Supplement - LondonThis post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,313 and a maximum payment of £5,436 per annum pro rata).
