Main duties of the job

The role includes providing specialist advice and participating in training on Looked after Children to all staff within North East London Foundation Trust who come into contact, or work directly with children and their families.

The post holder will deliver review health assessments for children and young people at their placements in any part of NELFT or in a clinic setting, and will ensure effective implementation of health care plans for individual children, ensuring all professionals working with Looked after Children have a clear understanding of the roles and responsibilities.

They will require excellent communication and documentation skills.

The post holder will assist the Specialist Advisor for Looked After Children in implementing Government guidance on promoting physical, mental and emotional health of looked after children and young people through targeted health interventions including health promotion initiatives.

The post also requires that the professional will take an active part in supporting the organisation with audit and data collection as required.

The LAC Nurse will attend complex Statutory reviews and ensure all that assessments and plans are of a high quality for submission to the Local Authority.

Starting with NELFTNELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

High Cost Area Supplement - LondonThis post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,313 and a maximum payment of £5,436 per annum pro rata).
