Band 7 - Clinical Lead in Dementia Crisis Support Team
An exciting new opportunity has arisen within the Dementia Crisis Support Team. We are looking to recruit a Band 7 Clinical Lead to our service. The post holder will be either a Nurse or Occupational Therapist with a speciality in dementia care.
The service covers Basildon, Brentwood and Thurrock area (BB&T).
This is an interesting and exciting opportunity that will provide you with a challenging and rewarding role within the multi professional dementia crisis support team. We will expect you to have well-developed clinical assessment skills, leadership skills, and ability to compile care plans in partnership with service users and carers.
The priorities of this post will be to facilitate rapid assessment, treatment,and intervention along with preventing avoidable hospital admissions. We also support local Mental health Hospitals with an early discharge ensuring seamless provision and support.
The dementia crisis support team work alongside other community Mental Health services, Primary Care and other agencies including social care.
Candidates should have experience in working with people living with dementia and possess or have a desire to work towards a Non medical prescribing qualification and undertake the training required.
The service covers 7 days a week from 9am till 7pm with either an early shift of 9am till 7pm or a late shift of 11am till 7pm.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will have clinical assessment skills, leadership skills, an ability to compile care plans in partnership with service users & carers.
The post holder will facilitate rapid access to assessment, treatment, crisis prevention and intervention along with preventing avoidable hospital admissions and assisting with timely discharge from hospital.
The post holder will provide specialist clinical expertise within their own occupation and support their team, department and organisation.
The post holder will be responsible for the development and implementation of high standards of clinical care ensuring the service provided is needs led, compliant with national guidance and is viewed positively by service users.
The post holder will be responsible for undertaking comprehensive clinical assessments of service users. They will provide specialist clinical advice to other team members on the suitability of various assessments.
The post holder will act at all times as a role model for their clinical specialism, raising the profile and value of the role they provide.
The post holder will provide health promoting, person centred, evidence based clinically effective care and continually improve patient care pathways in conjunction with other statutory and voluntary services for patients and their carers.

Probationary Period
This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).
Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 5% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £1,192 and a maximum payment of £2,011 per annum pro rata).
