Job summary

This post is eligible for the Trust 'Welcome to NELFT' Payment, a lump sum of 10% of agreed basic salary (pro rata if part time and exclusive of HCAS payments) (subject to a minimum of £4,000 and maximum of £10,000) and is open to all new applicants who are successfully appointed. Payment of the incentive is 50% of the lump sum at the end of the probationary period (typically six months) and then 50% at the end of year two. This welcome package is applicable to external candidates only.

Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs) will support a population of more than 470,000 children and young people nationally. The MHSTs are based in schools and colleges,supporting children and young people.

Kent and Medway Mental Health Support Teams | NELFT NHS Foundation Trust

The teams build on the support already in place from school counsellors, nurses, educational psychologists and the voluntary sector to treat those with mild to moderate mental health issues in school and will help children and young people with more severe needs to access the right support and provide a link to the NHS - in Kent this is CYPMHS and Medway this is YPMHS.

Main duties of the job

This senior Clinician and supervisor would work closely with the MHST clinical Lead and the MHST operational Manager and other clinical colleagues / partner agencies. The Post holder will also be required to undertake the EMHP supervisor training (provided by Kings Collage London or Sussex University) working alongside other clinicians and supervisors from other MHST sites .

The role is predominantly a supervisory role, however the post holder will deliver clinical interventions both targeted and under the Whole School Approach in order to maintain professional registrations and continue to develop. The post holder will need to remain current in evidence based interventions and have a good working knowledge of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy .

Supervisors are also key to service development in progressing and adapting interventions to ensure we are an inclusive service and contributing to research and development of the MHST's nationally.

Part of the requirement of the post is that the post holder will enrol on the Kings Collage London EMHP supervisor course or the Sussex University EMHP Supervisor course which will be supported and funded as part of the role.

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
