An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the NELFT Band 5 Occupational Therapy Mixed Rotation - starting in Ainslie Rehabilitation Unit.
Ainslie Unit is a physical rehabilitation unit based in Waltham Forest. The unit is for adults over 18years from Waltham Forest, Newham or Tower Hamlets. It is a good place to start your OT career as the Band 5 OT is well supported with 2 Band 7 OTs and 1 Band 6 OT, as well as physiotherapists and experienced rehabilitation assistants, in the team. Our Band 5s work with a caseload of 8 patients and will get good experience with assessments, rehab including activity groups, home visits, provision of equipment and adaptations, discharge planning and MDT working.
Main duties of the job
Band 5 Occupational Therapist Mixed Rotation
The Mixed Rotation includes inpatient and community posts within Physical health and Mental health Services.
Currently included in the rotation:
- Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit (Physical Health)
- Community Rehabilitation Service (Physical Health)
- Community Treatment Team (Physical Health)
- Acute Adult Mental Health Service (Mental Health)
- Adult Early intervention in Psychosis (Mental Health)
- Adult Access, Assessment and Brief Intervention Team (Mental Health)
- Frailty Mental Health Ward (Mental Health)
The Occupational Therapy profession within NELFT is a highly valued, vibrant group based across a wide range of health services.
Occupational Therapists work as integrated members of multi-disciplinary teams contributing their unique professional skills, supporting service users to increase their independence and achieve their personal goals. All occupational therapists receive professional supervision from a Senior O.T.

Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
High Cost Area Supplement - London
This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,313 and a maximum payment of £5,436 per annum pro rata).
