We have a full-time, permanent vacancy for a Paediatric Specialist Speech & Language Therapist, specialising in Deafness in Barking and Dagenham at NELFT. This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established, supportive and experienced Speech & Language Therapy Team that can develop your skills and interests. We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated individuals to be part of our team and contribute to the future of our service. Our team is based in Barking and Dagenham and is part of Targeted Children's Services which includes Speech & Language Therapy, Community Paediatrics, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Clinical Psychology and CAMHS, amongst other key professionals. You will be responsible for assessing and carrying out direct and indirect therapy with children presenting with speech, language and communication difficulties across the Deafness and mainstream pathways.
Main duties of the job
As a successful candidate you will have a recognised Speech and Language Therapy degree and HCPC registration. You will demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills (including observation, listening and empathy skills) to support the individual needs of clients, carers, families and professionals. You will independently organise, plan and prioritise your own workload, and that of more junior and assistant staff as well as demonstrate appropriate strategies for caseload management. A knowledge of BSL (level 1 is essential) and d/Deaf culture are desirable.

About us
Starting with NELFTNELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop-in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
