Job summary

We are seeking a dynamic Clinical or Counselling Psychologists to join our well-established Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIP) service in Havering.

The post is open to band 7 or 8a applicants (30hours/week). There will be development opportunities for those applying at 8a and opportunities for additional hours for the band 7 post.

Havering EIP is a supportive multidisciplinary team working with people aged between 14-65 who are experiencing a first episode of psychosis and their family. The successful candidate will work alongside our growing therapy team which includes a Senior Clinical Psychologist, FI therapist, CBT therapist and Assistant psychologist to deliver individual, group, and family work. They will work closely with the multidisciplinary team and offer support to colleagues on psychological approaches to working with psychosis.

NELFT EI services have practitioners interested in the provision of trauma informed care, with a particular focus on NET and EMDR approaches. The pathway offers numerous supervision and CPD opportunities, including individual and group supervision in CBT for psychosis, and group FIp and NET supervision. The Trust has strong links with the UCL, UEL and Royal Holloway clinical psychology courses and several Counselling Psychology courses. The post holder would be supported to participate in teaching and research projects should they wish.

Main duties of the job

This post will suit an enthusiastic clinical/counselling psychologist with an interest in developing their skills in applying evidence-based psychological therapies for people with psychosis and their families.

Additional responsibilities include: Participation in supervision focused on evidence based interventions for psychosis; routine collection of outcome measures and outcome monitoring; supporting our assistant psychologist who offers a well-being and support package to carers; supervision of trainee psychologists where appropriate; supporting the multidisciplinary team to work in psychologically informed ways, and contributing to service evaluation projects. The successful candidate will have one session per week guaranteed for CPD, and will be supported to develop their own area of interest within early intervention in psychosis.

Starting with NELFTNELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

High Cost Area Supplement - LondonThis post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £3,899 and a maximum payment of £4,968 per annum).

Knowledge

Essential

  • Evidence of being able to use computers to a good standard, including the use of Word, Excel & Power-point presentations.
  • Knowledge of research methodology, research design and data analysis

Qualifications

Essential

  • Doctoral level qualification in Clinical or Counselling Psychology Or Core mental health profession plus post graduate qualification in CBT plus BABCP registration
  • Professional registration with the appropriate body (HCPC plus BABCP for non doctoral Psychology candidates)

Desirable

  • Post-graduate qualifications in both CBTp and FIp
  • Specialist training in another psychological approach e.g. NET, EMDR
  • Has completed supervisors training.

  • Working with people with complex mental health needs to include psychosis
  • Experience of delivering trauma-focused interventions such as EMDR, Tf-CBT, NET
  • Working/liaising with multi-disciplinary teams and other agencies in the provision of care
  • Teaching/training skills and ability to utilize a range of presentation methods within public, professional and academic settings
