Job summary

Waltham Forest CAMHS are looking for a motivated and skilled clinician to join our busy Access Team.

In this role, the successful candidate will be part of a team operating as the "front door" of CAMHS. They will be responsible for working on a duty system to respond to new referrals into the service; prioritising and responding to risk; ensuring that young people and families are supported to be able to access the service and addressing any potential barriers. Effective communication, time management and decision making skills are essential.

Main duties of the job

The post holder would be expected to conduct holistic assessments of young people who may be experiencing mental health needs or neurodevelopmental difficulties, including an assessment of their mental health, risk to self and/or others, possible safeguarding risks, social circumstances and relationships. They will use this information to work with other professionals to develop a formulation of the young person's difficulties in order to identify those who may require additional support, either within CAMHS or from other agencies or services.

The post holder will also offer brief evidence-based interventions to young people during the assessment period. This may include direct sessions with young people, either in the clinic or in other community locations, or the provision of resources and signposting to other agencies.

Starting with NELFTNELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.High Cost Area Supplement - LondonThis post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,313 and a maximum payment of £5,436 per annum pro rata).
