Job summary

We are seeking a motivated and dynamic Band 7 Paediatric Dietitian to support our team in Waltham Forest. This is a new opportunity for an experienced and confident Dietitian, with specialist interest and experience in Paediatrics.

We are a small, friendly and supportive team based at Chingford Health Centre in north London that covers adult and paediatric services in the community.

The postholder will utilise a range of skills and experience from their clinical practice to perform comprehensive assessments and to provide treatment plans across a range of locations within NELFT. You will provide specialist advice, education and support to patients, carers and other health professionals within paediatrics within NELFT communities.

As part of the Nutrition & Dietetic service we can offer you:

  • Regular clinical and managerial supervision
  • A programme of In-service training including journal club
  • Training and development opportunities

Excellent communication skills are essential as well as good knowledge of current Dietetic best practice.The role will require the successful candidate to work as part of the team based in the community setting but with interface with other NELFT services and external stakeholders to ensure service delivery is of a high quality and provided 365 days per year.

The successful candidate will also be able contribute to the strategic development of the Dietetic Service across the community and primary care sectors of North East London.

Main duties of the job

The candidate must have the following.

o HCPC registrationo Paediatric experience.o Clinical knowledge & experience across a variety of disease states and dietetic therapies.o Effective organisational skills - to be able to prioritise and manage own workload within time and financial constraints

The main responsibilities of the post :

Must be able to travel around Waltham Forest, but may need to occasionally travel within the wider NELFT area efficiently.

  1. To provide a highly specialist Dietetic service to the community.
  2. To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner
  3. To be involved in the development and production of new educational resources and ensure alignment of resources with evidence-based practice.
  4. To be actively involved in the planning and organisation of the specialist paediatric service in liaison with the head of service.
  5. To initiate, plan and conduct audits/research projects, and analyse, interpret and present results to relevant groups .
  6. To work as an integrated member of the Nutrition and Dietetic Service, including attendance in the office.
  7. Provide cover for colleagues in their absence

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

High Cost Area Supplement - London

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,313 and a maximum payment of £5,436 per annum pro rata).

  1. To provide a highly specialist Dietetic service to the community.
  2. To be involved in the development and production of new educational resources and regularly review diet sheets and other written information to ensure alignment with evidence-based practice

  1. To provide a highly specialist Dietetic service to Waltham Forest community, respite care and learning difficulties. This includes attending meetings and case conferences. This will involve nutritional assessment of patients, including the calculation of nutritional requirements based on the interpretation of biochemistry, anthropometry and clinical condition and will result in the formulation of a diet therapy treatment plan.

Computer/Administration

  1. To be computer literate and encourage implementation of the Trusts IM&T Strategy.
  2. To ensure accurate recording of actions, updating of patient records and maintenance of confidentiality at all times.
