Job summary

The Clinical Audit & Effectiveness Facilitator will support the development and implementation of an effective and robust clinical audit work programme across the trust, facilitating clinical audit projects to meet local and national objectives.

The post holder will promote clinical audit within the Trust via training and awareness providing advice, guidance and support to colleagues and Divisional Teams across the organisation. This may include national audit methodologies, project design, data collection, data analysis, report writing, presentation of results and SMART action planning.

The post holder will ensure that clinical audit activity and NICE guidance reviews are appropriately supported, and external requirements are met. They will manage a wide portfolio of clinical audit projects and may take a lead role in one or more areas of work within the Clinical Audit and Effectiveness team.

The post holder will have responsibility for supporting audit for specific divisions whilst also supporting wider clinical governance processes, including patient safety, where required.

As a Clinical Audit & Effectiveness Facilitator, you will have a good awareness of the concepts of clinical audit and effectiveness and of the general quality governance agenda within the NHS.

Main duties of the job

You will have excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing and will need to be able to analyse and clearly present complex data. You will be expected to work closely with clinicians and staff across the Trust and should have a flexible, team player approach to your work.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities:

To provide guidance and support to healthcare staff in the promotion, design, implementation and reporting of the trust wide clinical audit and effectiveness programme.

To work with the Divisions to develop clinical audit forward plans to meet national and local priorities and assist in monitoring key aspects of the plan.

Collaborate with Clinical Audit Leads to establish and integrate clinical audit processes, ensuring their effective completion within Divisions and Specialties

Support Trust compliance with external requirements by taking responsibility for facilitation of a wide range of projects

Undertake clinical audit activity where required, including project design, data collection, data analysis, report writing and presentation of audit results

Retrieve raw data from various sources, including medical records and hospital information systems for the purpose of data analysis

Ensure that published national audit reports are appropriately disseminated to the relevant specialty/Division, with areas of good practice or concern highlighted
