Job summary
We are looking for a highly motivated Inflammatory Bowel Disease Clinical Nurse Specialist (IBD CNS) who can work autonomously and within a multidisciplinary team with knowledge and experience in management IBD in accordance with national and regional clinical guidance.
The Hillingdon Hospital Inflammatory Bowel Disease service is well-established with a multi-disciplinary team comprising of medical, nursing and secretarial support staff.
The CNS will share clinical responsibility, together with IBD CNS colleagues, for an identified patient caseload providing education, advice and support for patients with IBD. The IBD CNS will promote and co-ordinate a seamless pathway of care for patients from diagnosis through treatment and beyond. Central to the role is a collaborative approach with the multidisciplinary team to provide a comprehensive patient focussed service. The IBD CNS will have a key role in the support of a quality driven service for patients at THHFT.
Main duties of the job
The Clinical Nurse Specialist is a leadership role within the Trust responsible for the development of innovative nursing practice and education within the speciality of IBD. A large number of CNS posts are already established within various specialities within the Trust.
It is expected that the CNS maintains skills in the appropriate clinical area and as a senior nurse within the Trust would participate and contribute at management level in service developments and initiatives.
The CNS will share clinical responsibility, together with IBD CNS colleagues, for an identified patient caseload - assessing, planning and implementing treatment for IBD patients and providing patient education, advice and support for patients.
