We are looking for an enthusiastic Band 3 Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our friendly and dedicated multi-disciplinary team at Hillingdon Hospital. Based in the Older Adult Rehabilitation Unit, the post holder will support and assist qualified Occupational Therapists in completing the OT process. The role involves a mix of clinical and administrative tasks, carried out under the guidance of qualified Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists.
You will work within a welcoming Multidisciplinary Team in a supportive environment, focusing on delivering exceptional patient care and rehabilitation to older adults recovering from acute illnesses.

Main duties of the job
This role involves providing clinical and administrative support to qualified Occupational Therapists and contributing to a holistic, efficient, and effective inpatient therapy service.
The post holder will carry out tasks under a registered therapist's supervision to assist patients through the OT process. Responsibilities include gathering information from patients and their families, helping with functional tasks, ordering equipment, and referring to services like telecare. They will coordinate and implement therapeutic activity programs, practice daily living activities with patients such as getting in and out of bed, washing, toileting, and meal preparation, and provide minor aids while teaching their safe use (e.g., wheeled walking frames, raised toilet seats).
The post holder will work within their clinical expertise and competence, knowing when to seek guidance from others in delivering patient-focused care as per professional codes of conduct. Maintaining competence and embracing lifelong learning is essential. Accurate documentation of interventions and treatments is required, along with preparing the environment and equipment for treatment and ensuring a safe, tidy workspace.
