Job summary

We are seeking a Deputy Head of Employee Relations to join our People and OD Team. It is an exciting time to join our team to be involved in driving forward the Trust's People Plan.

The role will manage the day to day operations of the Employee Relations teams across two Trusts; Hillingdon Hospitals and Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust. Working closely with and reporting to the Head of Employee Relations.

Your focus will be on providing an efficient and business focused employee relations advice service, taking the lead in maintaining a climate of employee relations that reflects the principles of a just and fair culture

We would love to hear from you if you are a proactive HR professional able to demonstrate a clear track record for delivering best practice within a large organisation. You will need to have strong experience of working within Employee Relations and be able to demonstrate the ability to engage proactively with stakeholders.

The role is a hybrid role with a minimum of 2 -3 days required on site. The team is based at our Mount Vernon site but the postholder will need to be able to travel to our Hillingdon Hospital site and the Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust sites

Main duties of the job

  • Developing the people management capabilities of managers, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to handle staff management responsibilities
  • Supporting the development of the HR Consultants to provide a proactive and effective HR service, ensuring the on-going development of the team.
  • Provide an efficient and business focused employee relations advice service that will support the HR Business Partners and enhance specialist support for complex employee relations matters.
  • To take the lead in maintaining a climate of employee relations that reflects the principles of a just and fair culture - that develops feelings of mutuality, encourages co-operation and minimises the causes and effects of conflict.
  • To facilitate good employee relations and advise managers and staff accordingly on good practice.
  • To provide assurance to the Head of ER on the quality of the services provided through improved key performance indicators and the provision of robust reporting and auditing.

The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute Hospital in the London Borough of Hillingdon and offers a wide range of services including accident and emergency, inpatient care, day surgery, outpatient clinics and maternity services. The Trust's services at Mount Vernon Hospital include routine day surgery, delivered at a modern treatment centre, a minor injuries unit and outpatient clinics.
