This is an exciting opportunity to join our orthopaedic and older adult rehabilitation team as an Senior Therapy Assistant on the fractured neck of femur pathway. The successful applicant will be part of the acute orthopaedic therapy team who provide early therapy intervention to those with fractured neck of femurs. As part of the role you will follow patients into their rehabilitation phase and facilitate their discharge.
You will work closely with, and under the guidance of registered Physio and Occupational Therapists, to complete clinical and administrative tasks. The role will contribute to the therapy provision by providing a holistic, evidenced based and timely service to patients. The post holder will play a key role in the patients' seamless transition along the pathway and promote a continuity of care for this cohort of patients.
- Under supervision of a registered therapist, undertake a variety of clinical and non-clinical tasks that support the delivery of therapy to patients in the acute and early rehabilitation phase of their recovery. Including patient exercise regimes and to undertake therapy treatments as instructed and within written competencies.
- To assist in providing a clinical service to patients with mobility problems in allocated area of responsibility with supervision from a qualified therapist.
- Coordinate and implement a designated programme of therapeutic activities to service users.

- To work under the direct and indirect supervision of the qualified staff in the performance of specific tasks for an individual or group of patients, as part of their treatment and rehabilitation programmes. Such tasks may include:
Undertaking the assessment of specific patients with mobility problems and to formulise individualised treatment plans utilising a range of treatment skills.
Develop, teach, and supervise exercise programmes.
Teach the use of walking aids and personal equipment and progress where appropriate.
Carry out basic assessments and treatments addressing patient's domestic and personal activities of daily living.
Document as necessary in therapy records/communication sheets/ medical notes/nursing records.
Work on patients' mobility, safety awareness and stair ability with task practice and supervision.
To identify adverse medical conditions and patient's vital signs that would affect treatment, and act appropriately.
To work with the team towards identified goals, helping with ensuring a timely discharge from therapy.

- Practice functional mobility and transfers such as bed, chair and toilet transfers.
- To ensure consent to treatment is gained before each intervention and documented appropriately.
- To ensure confidentiality is maintained. After identifying the need to share any information with a third party to make sure relevant statutory and local policies and guidelines are adhered to.
- To prepare the treatment area and tidying up after use, including the disposal of soiled linen and the cleaning of equipment.
- To manage self and workload effectively, recognising when there is a need to prioritise, and doing so with equity and efficiency.

- Willingness to undertake relevant departmental training to achieve required clinical competencies

- Working as part of a health or other multidisciplinary team
