Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for Highly Specialist CNS to join our busy Eye team at Hillingdon and Mount Vernon Hospitals together with community clinics. The post- holder will be responsible for the assessment, planning and provision of specialise ophthalmic nursing service and carry out specialist nursing procedures.

The post-holder will be a key member of staff in participating in the improvement of care of patient attending the Ophthalmology unit; they will work autonomously and are accountable for their own professional actions

Willingness to work across sites is essential.

Main duties of the job

  1. Participate in all departmental activities as an effective team member, supporting the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse taking the responsibility for the leadership of a team of staff.
  2. To take responsibility and accountability for patients for pre-assessment and their surgical pathways. To oversee and manage Intravitreal Clinic.
  3. To review and update department guidelines in line with Royal Colleague of Ophthalmology.
  4. To assess care needs, and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care, in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
  5. To teach and supervise qualified and unqualified staff, and to act as a role model to junior staff, undertaking performance management as required.
