Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for Highly Specialist CNS to join our busy Eye team at Hillingdon and Mount Vernon Hospitals together with community clinics. The post- holder will be responsible for the assessment, planning and provision of specialise ophthalmic nursing service and carry out specialist nursing procedures.
The post-holder will be a key member of staff in participating in the improvement of care of patient attending the Ophthalmology unit; they will work autonomously and are accountable for their own professional actions
Willingness to work across sites is essential.
Main duties of the job
- Participate in all departmental activities as an effective team member, supporting the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse taking the responsibility for the leadership of a team of staff.
- To take responsibility and accountability for patients for pre-assessment and their surgical pathways. To oversee and manage Intravitreal Clinic.
- To review and update department guidelines in line with Royal Colleague of Ophthalmology.
- To assess care needs, and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care, in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
- To teach and supervise qualified and unqualified staff, and to act as a role model to junior staff, undertaking performance management as required.
