Job summary
Are you a registered nurse with a comprehensive background in accident and emergency nursing and are ready for a new leadership challenge?
We are looking for Band 6 Junior Sisters/Charge Nurses to join our friendly and committed team and The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. You will need to be self-motivated, flexible, have excellent communication and organisational skills, and be ready to develop your leadership skills within a supportive and empowering department.
The post holder will work alongside the Matron and Senior Sisters to deliver a caring and innovative service across all aspects of the Emergency Department. You will act as a shift leader, ensuring the safety and patient flow of the department whilst liaising with multi-disciplinary teams, adhering to the Trust's CARES values and ensuring these are upheld by the rest of the team.
The role will also include teaching and assisting with the development of junior staff. A mentorship qualification would be ideal to assist with our regular intake of students and newly-qualified nursing staff.

Main duties of the job
- Participate in all Departmental activities as an effective team member, supporting the ED Matron and Senior Sisters/Charge Nurses in the effective running of the Emergency Department.
- To ensure patients are seen, treated, discharged or transferred within the four hourly emergency access standards.
- To assess care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care, in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
- To teach and supervise qualified and unqualified staff, and to act as a role model to junior staff.
- To take responsibility and accountability for a group of patients.
- To take charge of the department when necessary.
