Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join our friendly Ultrasound Department. We are seeking an enthusiastic and patient-focused qualified healthcare professional to join our team as a Band 5 Trainee Sonographer.
You should have several years of postgraduate experience and hold at least a second class BSc degree in Radiography, in line with course requirements confirmed by Kings College London.
Our department trains student Sonographers with a commitment to delivering high quality teaching. We actively support and encourage career development at all levels. You should be willing and capable to work to the highest standards, as you will be part of a team who support each other and take pride in delivering excellent patient care.
The post is rotational between our Hillingdon and Mount Vernon Hospital sites, with flexible working hours up to 20:00. Weekend cover may also be required, once qualified in obstetric ultrasound.
An interview date is yet to be confirmed.
Main duties of the job
- To undertake practical training in all aspects of obstetric, gynecological, and general ultrasound procedures as required.
- To complete the Post Graduate certificate or diploma, as deemed appropriate (PG Cert or PGDip) in Medical Ultrasound provided by Kings College University London. Failure to complete the course would result in the position being terminated.
- To attend the taught modules on the course.
- To ensure that practice is carried out in accordance with Trust and departmental policies and protocols.
- To undertake all ultrasound procedures delegated by the superintendent sonographer and the tutor sonographer in order to acquire a good level of skill and knowledge of all aspects of ultrasound encountered on the departmental rotation.
- To support all members of the team in order to assist the delivery of the service and achieve individual and group objectives.
- Undertake and participate in research, audit and evidence-based practice where necessary in order to complete the course successfully
