Job summary

The post-holder will play a crucial role in our dynamic department, balancing responsibilities in both clinical and non-clinical settings. Working primarily on the Trust premises during regular hours, the role offers flexibility with a one-day-per-week work-from-home option within a rotating team.

Under the supervision of the PACS/RIS IT Manager, the post-holder will exercise initiative in performing diverse tasks. First and foremost, they will provide invaluable first-line support to PACS/RIS users, addressing day-to-day faults and system/operator errors. Administrative prowess is essential, encompassing various support functions guided by the PACS/RIS IT Manager.

Monitoring and ensuring targets are met for PACS imaging, protocols, and deadlines falls within their remit. Their ability to comprehend and convey complex information to both departmental staff and suppliers is pivotal. Effective liaison within the Trust and broader NHS network will be crucial to facilitate timely availability of images for clinical decision-making.

Accurate record-keeping of patient information and examination details on the Radiology Information System is a critical component of their responsibilities. In summary, the PACS/RIS Administrator is a linchpin in our healthcare system, seamlessly blending clinical support, technical expertise, and administrative finesse to uphold the highest standards of service delivery.

Main duties of the job

The PACS/RIS Administrator role is required to provide operational support to clinical services by means of bespoke IT systems and processes that the clinical and administrative teams follow as part of the imaging pathway, both within Radiology and in other imaging-based areas. The role will be required to support related system changes and projects which are designed to maximise the efficiency of the clinical services, and to ensure systems are fit for purpose. There will be elements of user training to deliver, user access to maintain, and administration of day-to-day transactions of imaging between Trusts.

  • BSc (Hons) Degree Holder Educated to a minimum of NVQ 4 or Equivalent knowledge and experience

Desirable

  • ECDL, IT/Computing Certifications

  • Ability to be calm and diplomatic when dealing with members of the public and staff.

  • Intermediate IT literacy
