Cape Town is a 38 bedded stepdown ward, while Canterbury Ward is a 17 bedded rehabilitation ward. The care provided is patient focused within a multi-professional Team . We are proud to work within an amazing hospital and excel at our teamwork by using a Team Nursing Model.

On the 16th September between 10am to 1pm we are hosting a Meet and Greet to showcase the great work that goes on within the Capetown/Canterbury ward EN2 8JL

On the day you will have an opportunity to meet members of the Multi-disciplinary Team and have insight into the experience of working on the ward. You will also get an opportunity to see what our qualified and unqualified staff do.

Main duties of the job

As part of our recruitment plan for the Community Nursing service, we are implementing a band 5. This is an exciting opportunity for any band 5 nurse looking for a place to start or an opportunity to try something different. This unique opportunity within the Community Division will allow you to enhance and develop your skills across a range of different areas

These posts come with a permanent contract, and you will benefit from exposure to a wide range of clinical placements including:

  • Canterbury Ward
  • Capetown Ward

About us

Canterbury Ward:

Is our community based rehabilitation ward which is located at Chase farm Hospital, this is new initiative, to support patients who require a low level of re-habilitation. The ward is Nurse led and supported by a multi-disciplinary team of staff, which includes physiotherapist and occupational therapist.

Capetown:

Is our community based ward which is also located at Chase farm, this is a Nurse led service the focuses on medically optimise patients requiring additional support for discharge. The ward is also supported by a multi-disciplinary team of advanced clinical practitioner, therapist, and a general practitioner

Assess patient care needs and the development and implementation of programmes of patient care and participate in the evaluation of these.

Carry out all relevant forms of care to designated patients and be able to supervise learner nurses and Health Care Support Workers.

Care and control of medication and controlled drugs used for patient care, being aware of the systems used for safe administration, the ordering and maintenance of stock.

Ensure work with the Trust/unit and ward policies in order to maintain professional, clinical and patient safety.

Acquire the knowledge and expertise to take appropriate action in emergency situations and for personally attending the mandatory/compulsory update sessions.
