An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced emergency planner to join the growing emergency planning team at NMUH. The successful candidate will report to the Head of Emergency Planning within the Chief Operating Officer's corporate team. The emergency planning team is responsible for the provision of professional and expert advice, guidance, information, training and support to Trust staff on all matters relating to the Emergency, Preparedness, Resilience and Response (EPRR) function. This includes business continuity and major incident planning.

Main duties of the job
The successful postholder will support the delivery of the NMUH major incident, CBRNE (chemical, biological, radiogical, nuclear, explosives), emergency preparedness, business continuity and resilience planning functions and support the enhancement of resilience across the Trust.
The North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust has a duty to play a central role in planning for and responding to any incident with major consequences for health or health services, in partnership with other parts of the NHS, the emergency services and local authorities. This Trust works closely with UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA), NHS England, Local Authorities and other health Trusts within this area in planning for and managing all types of emergencies and major incidents.

Operational responsibilities
The post holder will:
- Assist the Trust and its staff in achieving agreed key aims and objectives linked to the national, regional and local resilience agenda
- Support the production and updating of plans and procedures defining the Trusts emergency planning and response roles, and the development of supporting business cases as required
- Undertake a range of emergency preparedness activities commensurate with their role, including hazard identification, risk assessment and consulting on and embedding service improvements in line with the emergency planning cycle
- Develop their knowledge, experience, professional skills and aptitudes by progressively increasing a portfolio of responsibilities over time
- Support the implementation of new national policy, guidance and evidence related to health emergency preparedness and resilience
- Represent the Trust on local regional multi-agency EPRR groups and forums.
- Support and contribute to Trusts Emergency Planning Committee, and Trust governance and assurance committees as appropriate
- Undertake the completion and monitoring of NHS England and Improvements and other associated EPRR audits particularly the annual Core Standards Audit
- Contribute to, and lead elements of the design and delivery of a training programme to develop staff in their emergency planning and response roles
- Contribute to, and lead elements of the design and delivery of a risk-based exercise programme to test emergency and business continuity plans
- Contribute to the systematic testing of all emergency and business continuity plans
- Act as an EPRR subject matter expert throughout the response and recoveryphases of incidents across Trust services.
- Work flexibly to support emergency response activities of the Trust including providing support to Silver and Gold incident on-call teams, and the Trust Incident Control Room, if established as part of a declared incident response
- Contribute to the review and maintenance of Trust emergency response and business continuity arrangements including operational procedures and technical systems designed to support the Trusts emergency response and resilience
- Support work to assess and evaluate levels of emergency preparedness and resilience within the Trust with reference to statutory requirements, guidance, best practice and lessons learnt from exercise and actual incidents.
- Deputise for the Head of Emergency Planning in all aspects of their role in their absence.
- Have financial responsibility to sign off staff rosters and invoices for procured items/services.
