Job summary
An opportunity has arisen to work within the Enfield Community Respiratory Team as a Respiratory Assistant on a 6 month fixed term with a likelihood to extend the contract. We are a multidisciplinary team who provide support and self management advice to patients in Enfield who have chronic lung disease such as COPD.
Your role will be supporting our respiratory physiotherapists in delivery and development of our pulmonary rehabilitation service. You will also work with patients on a one to one basis giving advice about breathlessness management and chest clearance under the guidance of the qualified staff.
You must have a full driving license and access to a vehicle for work purposes.
Main duties of the job
- To perform home visits unsupervised to continue ongoing treatment programs as prescribed by a qualified member of staff following care plans. Access to advice and support from a senior physiotherapist/nurse is available as required, either directly or by phone. Clinical work is routinely monitored.
- To perform basic respiratory assessment of delegated patients. To assist the respiratory physiotherapist with running the pulmonary rehabilitation and assisting the respiratory team to provide the best evidence-based care to the patients in the community.
- To contribute to the delivery of health promotion activities within the service and in accordance with Trust objectives.
- To undertake administrative, clerical and other duties that support the effective delivery of the physiotherapy service to patients.
- To undertake assessments for home equipment as a trusted assessor.
