Job summary
As a medical liaison consultant you will play a key part in supporting the flow of inpatients at RNOH, working with multiple specialist services at RNOH to ensure that patients are safely discharged with appropriate onward care in place. We are looking for a part-time consultant to grow our team and develop this essential service. of the 4PA, 2PA will be dedicated to Medical Liaison and the other 2PA to managing Safeguarding across the Trust.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop specialist interests depending on their professional needs and have time working in a teaching capacity with specialist registrars across the Trust.
Main duties of the job
The main duties of this role is to provide a number of services for adults (18+) at RNOH including: ward referrals, support of non-consultant hospital staff, daily HDU liaison including reviewing step-down patients, weekly ortho-oncology meeting (with UCLH), daily MDT board rounds for orthopaedic in-patients, weekly MDT complex case meeting (including psychiatry, anaesthetics and full MDT), weekly anaesthetic complex-case meeting, weekly long-stayers complex discharge meeting, safeguarding adults, and falls as well as educational supervision to NCHDs.
Additionally, this role will lead and guide the Trust on Safeguarding matters, working with the Safeguarding team.
