Job summary
- To create and promote a conducive learning environment that optimises the safe delivery of enhanced nursing care for patients requiring orthopaedic and musculoskeletal care.
- To facilitate best practice and evidence-based knowledge and skill development for staff in order to optimise highest quality safe nursing care in the clinical area.
Main duties of the job
Promote and enable the delivery high standards fundamental of care through supporting individual staff with developing clinical knowledge and skills that assure safe enhanced nursing care are delivered to patients.
- Deliver evidence based and hands clinical nursing skills. Undertake assessment of their competence when taking on these new skills and providing feedback and personalises support to individual nurses.
- Maintain enhanced nursing care educational records for all staff, competencies and feedback.
- Provide support and facilitate high quality partnership and family centred care for patients in collaboration with the multi professional team and in line with the local and national policies and guideline.
- Support nursing students, and their supervisors/assessors within the clinical placement areas
- Facilitate developmental opportunities for newly registered nurses that enable them achieve competency and maintain portfolios of practice to meet the demands of their new role
- Maintain a visible presence within the clinical area, spend minimum of 80% of time working with staff at the bedside to assure delivery of high quality safe and excellent care are delivered to patients.
- To support staff in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care, actively seeking evidence-based practice which will support excellent clinical outcomes.
