Job summary
We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated and hardworking surgeons to join the Specialist Hip & Knee Unit. The successful candidates will have a particular focus on complex hip and knee arthroplasty, including prosthetic joint infection and periprosthetic fractures. Other areas of interest that can be tailored to suit candidates. Demonstrable fellowship training is essential.
A curriculum vitae will be required with the application.
Main duties of the job
This is a full-time post (10 PAs), with on call commitments. The post-holders will agree a detailed job plan including personal and professional objectives with the Clinical Director once in post, but the job plan will involve elective theatre, outpatient sessions and multidisciplinary team meetings. The appointees will be given full support in the form of joint Consultant operating for complex cases, as well as with service development projects, quality improvement projects and appraisal. The successful candidate will be expected to fully contribute to the administrative, governance, teaching and research activities within the department.

The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital was founded in 1907 with the amalgamation of London's three specialist orthopaedic hospitals into one single centre of excellence. We can therefore trace our history back to 1838 when the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital was founded. The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust was formed in 1991 as part of the first wave of NHS Trusts. We provide a comprehensive range of neuro-musculoskeletal health care, which is unique within the NHS. There are 240 in-patient beds on the main hospital site at Stanmore, meeting patients' needs of all ages. 20,000 out-patients per annum are seen at the Stanmore site and a further 20,000 patients per annum are seen at our Bolsover Street site in Central London.
