Job summary

We are looking for a senior researcher to be part of our therapies clinical department to help build on the capability of clinical staff to formulate projects, provide methodological support and connect with academics in HEIs to deliver innovation and excellent patient care. The role may also offer you the opportunity to build your own program of research which aligns with Musculoskeletal care delivered at the RNOHT, which could include the development of fellowship application (such as the NIHR Doctoral Clinical Practitioner and Academic Fellowship (DCAF), or similar) You will work closely with the Senior Therapies Research Lead and will be part of a dynamic Therapies Research & Education team led by the Clinical Director of Therapies. This is a great opportunity to share your research knowledge bringing together clinicians, students and academics to help deliver innovation and evidence based care.

Main duties of the job

The Role will include the key duties below:

Provide advice on methodology, ethical approval and developing project protocols

Support staff in the dissemination of their projects, through writing for publication and conference abstracts.

Support the therapy department to deliver on NIHR portfolio studies.

Work with students, academic supervisors and clinicians to encourage team working for successful delivery of projects

Encourage and inspire a culture of evidence base care.

You will be responsible for the delivery of the therapies research strategy with the Senior Therapies Research Lead building on the capacity and capability of staff to deliver projects and specific programs of research to gain sustainable grant funding in collaboration with others, external or internal to the organisation as appropriate.

You will also connect with other clinicians/researchers either within the hospital or externally to encourage collaboration and multidisciplinary research.

  • Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline
  • Research Education to MSc Level or equivalent research experience
  • GCP Training

Desirable

  • HCPC, RN, or equivalent Registration
  • Writing for publications course

  • Experience of publishing in peer review journals
  • Experience in a healthcare/academic environment
  • Experience in interpreting national guidance and policies and their interpretation at local level.
  • Participation in audit and monitoring

  • A contemporary portfolio of publication output.
  • Experience in submission of grant applications, costing of studies.
  • Evidence of working with and developing staff from different professional disciplines
  • Clinical experience in a relevant clinical environment
