Job summary

We are seeking an experienced and motivatedConsultant Paediatrician with a specialist interest in Paediatric Epilepsyto join our established and growing service.

This is an exciting and strategically important appointment. The successful candidate will work closely with our current Paediatric Epilepsy Lead Consultant, as part of a supported and structured transition, and take on the role ofLead Clinician for the Paediatric Epilepsy Service,in due course, guiding its continued development, quality improvement, and strategic vision.

Main duties of the job

You will join a dynamic team of 20x Consultant Paediatricians, contributing to a balanced mix of inpatient, outpatient, and on-call commitments.

  • Delivering specialist epilepsy clinics and supporting the care of children with a wide range of epilepsy presentations.
  • Working alongside the current lead consultant and preparing to assume full clinical and strategic leadership of the service in due course
  • Developing and expanding epilepsy pathways, improving multidisciplinary working, and strengthening patient experience.
  • Participating in the General Paediatric, Ambulatory, and Neonatal attending rotas.
  • Working closely with our Epilepsy CNS and wider MDT to support safe, effective, family-centred care.
  • Leading and contributing to audit, guideline development, governance, and epilepsy-specific quality improvement activity.
  • Providing teaching, supervision, and support to trainees and wider MDT.

Our service is supported by 1.40 WTE Consultant staffing(including this post) and1x B7 Epilepsy Clinical Nurse Specialist. We offer a stimulating caseload, excellent multidisciplinary collaboration, and strong leadership support for service development.
