Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a developmental post for a Breast Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist, to join the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust Breast services (RFL). As a Breast CNS, you will play a vital role in supporting patients throughout their breast cancer journey. You will provide specialist nursing advice, emotional support, and education to help patients make informed decisions about their care. Working closely with patients, families, and the wider multidisciplinary team, you will ensure continuity of care and an exceptional patient experience.
The expectations of the post will be demonstrated across the four pillars of advanced level practice: clinical practice, leadership and management, education, and research.
RFL Breast services delivers a wide range of diagnostic and treatment options across the patient pathway for benign and malignant breast conditions. The service provides comprehensive treatment options for early and metastatic cancer patients and is committed to supporting research and evidence-based treatments in line with both local and national policies. The successful applicant should have broad experience which includes managing patients receiving systemic anti-cancer therapy.
Main duties of the job
The breast care nursing team work within all the site specific stages of the breast disease pathway. Working collaboratively and cross covering all breast clinical nurse specialists.
The post holder will be expected:To be an active member of the breast care nursing team with awillingness to develop new skills. To participate in the provision of high quality specialist nursing care to patients with breast disease throughout the patient pathway and entire disease trajectory.To work autonomously using expert clinical judgement and knowledge to provide informational and psychological care to patients and their families in conjunction with the multidisciplinary teams in acute care Primary Care and Tertiary care providers.To assist with all aspects of breast care provision in association with the multidisciplinary team (MDT).To act as a nursing resource, provide clinical leadership and expertise as a specialist nurse in relation to breast cancer.To take responsibility for own evidence based practice and to ensureawareness of current research to support and underpin specialist advice.To develop all staff within the multidisciplinary team, providing support, advice, formal and informal education.
