Job summary

Barnet Hospital Intensive Care Unit comprises of 18 beds which includes level 2 and level 3 patients. Specialities include general medical and surgical patients as well as respiratory, cardiac, renal and obstetrics.

Main duties of the job

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate, highly motivated, and proactive individual who espouses the vision of our Trust to deliver safe care compassionately to become part of the senior ICU team.

We are looking for a Senior Sister /Charge Nurse to support our Critical Care Unit. The successful candidate will be expected to manage the day to day running of the intensive care unit, supporting their teams by utilizing excellent communication and clinical skills. You will be expected to work a mixture of days, nights and weekends.

The successful candidate is required to be able demonstrate the Trust values, the responsibilities of the job description and person specification. Applicants must have evidence of the development of advanced intensive care skills and leadership skills in line with the Band 7 role.

You should have extensive experience in Critical Care at Band 6, will have regularly acted as a shift leader in critical care, and have been involved in the performance review of junior colleagues. You will have also successful completed a recognised Critical Care Course and be a qualified mentor. You will also have completed a nursing degree.
