Job summary

We are pleased to invite applications for a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon with a subspecialty interest in Upper Limbat the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be primarily based at Barnet Hospital, with the potential to undertake clinical activity across other Trust sites including Chase Farm Hospital and Royal Free Hospital where service needs require. This post will join an established team delivering a comprehensive Trauma and Orthopaedic service across the Trust, encompassing a wide range of subspecialty interests in both elective surgery and orthopaedic trauma. The successful applicant will contribute to the continued development of the Upper Limb surgery service, supporting both elective and trauma pathways. The appointee will play an important role in strengthening specialist upper limb provision, supporting the management of routine and complex hand and upper limb conditions while contributing to trauma care within the wider orthopaedic service. The postholder will participate in the consultant on-call rota and work closely with multidisciplinary colleagues to deliver high-quality patient care, support service development, and contribute to education and training within the department. Main duties of the job

The post is a full-time Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon position with a subspecialty interest in Upper Limb Surgery. The successful candidate will be primarily based at Barnet Hospital and will contribute to the delivery of both elective and trauma services within the department. Elective outpatient and surgical activity will be cross site in nature, with the opportunity to undertake additional elective work at the Chase Farm Elective Orthopaedic Centre where appropriate. Trauma theatre sessions and associated trauma clinics will be undertaken within the Trust's trauma network, working closely with colleagues across the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will contribute to the consultant on-call rota for Trauma and Orthopaedics and will work as part of the wider orthopaedic team to provide high-quality care for patients with both elective and traumatic hand and upper limb conditions. The postholder will not be expected to travel between multiple sites within a single working day. Applicants must holdfull registration with the General Medical Counciland either be on theSpecialist Register for Trauma and Orthopaedicsor be within six months of receiving theirCertificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at the time of interview.
