Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a full time Band 3 Healthcare Support Worker to join a dynamic team at Chase Farm Haematology Oncology Day Unit delivering Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) and supportive therapy to patients with Oncological and Haematological disease. This is a great opportunity to develop your skills in an area where team working is the core drive to deliver an efficient service to cancer patients.

You will be working closely with other SACT nurses at both Royal Free day-unit and Finchley Infusion Suite including other key members of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure smooth and efficient service in the management of cancer patients' care.

Main duties of the job

The unit has 16 treatment chairs for infusions, a chair for phlebotomy and venesections and 2 side rooms. We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated individual who has previous experienced working in a similar setting, have excellent communication and time management skills. As a Healthcare Support Worker you will work as part of a team under the supervision of a registered nurse and accountable for the delivery of care to patients. Clinical duties include PICC care, venesection, venepuncture and cannulation.

The successful candidate will be expected to liaise appropriately with all key members of the multi-disciplinary team and service users related to the speciality. They will be responsible for all aspects of patient care including the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation. They will demonstrate empathy, flexibility, and good communication skills. We support ongoing training and development both in-house and with external courses/programmes. The successful candidate is required to be able to demonstrate the Trust values, the responsibilities of the job description and person specification.
