Job summary

Based at Barnet Hospital, with a regular presence at Chase Farm Hospital, this role forms a central part of the Therapy Service leadership team.

The successful candidate will lead a large team of dietitians, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists and support workers, delivering therapy interventions at Barnet and Chase Farm Hospitals. The role also oversees associated outpatient services, including neuro and respiratory physiotherapy, speech and language therapy and dietetics.

We are seeking to appoint a dynamic and innovative therapist with experience in leading multiprofessional teams within an acute inpatient setting, supported by a strong clinical background. The post holder will hold overall responsibility for the leadership and operational delivery of the service, playing a key role in its strategic development while fostering a compassionate and inclusive environment for our staff, patients and carers.

The role spans two sites within the Royal Free London group; acute services at Barnet Hospital and the elective orthopaedic centre at Chase Farm Hospital.

Main duties of the job

To have a lead role in the planning, organisation, delivery and evaluation of the inpatient therapy service and associated outpatients. This includes Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Dietetics and Speech and Language Therapy services delivered at Barnet and Chase Farm Hospitals.

To be responsible for the overall leadership, strategic development, clinical governance, quality assurance, financial control, workforce management, equipment and provision of these services.

Make a significant contribution to the clinical governance agenda by ensuring that practice is evidence based and through the development of staff competence at all levels.

The post holder will act as an innovator, motivator, key change agent and role model, with a high level of autonomy to support and influence the clinical pathways including implementation of national initiatives, service reconfiguration and appropriate models of care.

To provide senior management leadership in supporting the directorate's contribution to the Divisional and Trust agenda and national NHS agenda, within the clinical and corporate governance frameworks of the Trust
