Job summary
The Royal Free London Group is looking to recruit an experienced, resourceful, dynamic and compassionate Director of Nursing to join our Local Executive Team at Royal Free Hospital as part of the Royal Free London Group.
Reporting to the hospital unit Chief Executive Officer, with a professional accountability to the Group Chief Nursing Officer, the post holder will be a core member of the health unit's leadership team and will provide leadership to the associated nursing and Allied Health Professional (AHP) workforce by shaping a culture of continuous improvement.
The Director of Nursing is responsible for the health unit's standards of nursing, care to ensure excellent patient care and for the implementation of practice in line with the group's objectives. The Director of Nursing is responsible for contributing to, and implementing, group strategy, and will work strategically with the health unit medical director to enhance patient experience, quality of care and ensure patient safety.
In addition, the Director of Nursing will ensure effective systems are in place to monitor and improve clinical, operational and financial performance of nursing and AHP teams and individuals.

Main duties of the job
As a core member of the health unit leadership team, the Director of Nursing will lead with compassion and integrity, championing a culture of openness, inclusion & continuous improvement. Working closely with divisional leaders, clinical practice groups and senior colleagues, the Director of Nursing will ensure that our services are safe, effective and responsive, while embedding quality improvement and collaborative ways of working.
The Director of Nursing will play a central role in shaping and delivering our Trust strategy and in anticipating future workforce and service needs. The Director of Nursing will oversee the development, planning and performance of the nursing workforce, strengthening professional standards, recruitment, retention and leadership capability. Your influence will extend across patient experience, safety, governance and clinical performance--acting as an advocate for patients and families and ensuring learning drives meaningful change.
