At Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust, we are looking to recruit for the position of aFinancial Controller Band 8Aunder the Private Patients Unit (PPU).

This role is for a senior skilled and experienced accountant seeking a position beyond that of a normal NHS finance role, to support and lead on quality decision making through provision of excellent analytical support.
The post holder will lead/manage/supervise a team and be directly involved in the hands-on delivery of timely, complete, and accurate results, plans, insights, and support, on the finances and accounts of PPU. Therefore, the post holder is also responsible for establishing and maintaining appropriate compliant financial controls, processes and records that will help orchestrate and underpin the financial sustainability of the PPU.

This role will be based from the Private Patient Unit at Royal Free Hospital, however, the post holder will be responsible for all sites as required by the role.
Main duties of the job
1. Lead and coordinate the period end accounts preparation process include setting & communicating timelines as well as hands on task coordination/execution to ensure financials are timely, complete and accurate representing a true and fair view of PPU.
2. Coordinate, review and ensure timely accurate and complete invoicing and unbilled income relating to hospital services, provider services, room rental services, admin services, medical secretarial services in each financial period.
3. Coordinate and manage all payables (creditors) processes in line with governance and establish/maintain register of contractual commitments to timely decision making and consideration of liabilities.
4. Coordinate and lead the liaison between PPU and Central Finance as well as with internal and external auditors relating to the accounts of PPU and the technical accounting matters.
5. Design, lead and prepare month analytical reviews and reconciliations (ensure that at least monthly reconciliations of receivables/debtor balances, deferred income/deposits accounts, assigned bank/cash accounts, provider payables, VAT etc. are prepared).
6. Ensure ongoing timely reviews and reconciliations to confirm the integrity of Compucare data as a true and fair view for financial accounting and reporting purposes of PPU (and in alignment with the Business unit & Trust in general).
