Job summary

The Band 7 Sonographer position at the Barnet, Chase Farm Hospital and peripheral sitesis a dynamic and multifaceted role within the Imaging Department. This role requires a skilled professional capable of performing a diverse range of diagnostic ultrasound examinations across various specialties including obstetrics, gynaecology, abdominal, paediatrics, and small parts imaging. The position is key to providing accurate diagnostics, thereby directly impacting patient care and treatment outcomes. The role calls for a balance of technical proficiency, patient interaction, and an ongoing commitment to professional development.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will be regarded as Reporting Sonographers in the Imaging Departmentand as such will fulfil the requirements of their role within the ultrasound team, beingable to demonstrate highly specialised knowledge and expertise in all aspects of thediagnostic ultrasound service.Perform a wide range of diagnostic ultrasound scans that include obstetrics,gynaecology, general abdominal, paediatrics, and small parts.Produce a high standard of accuracy and quality of diagnostic ultrasound imaging withapplication of a high level of theoretical, practical and technical knowledge whiledemonstrating high standards of care for best patient management to clinicians.Independently report on all performed ultrasound examinations without clinical input.The responsibilities will include training and teaching trainee Sonographers andassistant staff in both the delivery of the service and their individual development needsin a motivational manner.Assist in and manage the day to day workflow, ensuring all data inputs are recorded forboth patient record integrity and statistical evaluation purposes following departmentalprotocol.Encourage the highest professional and technical standards in all staff, using personalexample and constructive supervision.JD Template PT26092012 P a g e | 2Demonstrate partnership in professional development issues, maintaining a high levelof technical and theoretical skills through personal CPD.
