The post will incorporate the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) role dimensions of expert clinical practice, education, leadership, management and research, whilst using your skills and expertise in the management of patients with benign HPB conditions.

Main duties of the job

The post will incorporate the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) role dimensions of expert clinical practice, education, leadership, management and research.

The Clinical Nurse Specialist will be required:

To liaise with all key members of the multidisciplinary team to advise and support colleagues in the delivery of specialised patient care across professional boundaries.

To develop & undertake nurse led clinics for patients with complex benign HPB conditions including benign biliary strictures, chronic and gallstone pancreatitis, pancreatic cyst surveillance and complex gall bladder polyps and gall stones, and to be responsible for excellent standards of nursing care to patients through the planning, co-ordinating, delivering and evaluating nurse-led clinics.

To work with support of the lead nurse and consultants to deliver specialist clinical care appropriate to the needs of the patient group and based on principles that are research based and which enhance the quality of patient care, for example with acute pancreatitis referrals.

To contribute to the facilitation of the planning, delivery and evaluation of care pathways for patients with benign HPB conditions.

To contribute to training and education within specialist area.
