An exciting opportunity has arisen to provide you with doing something different and upskill. We are looking for an enthusiastic Dietitian to join our friendly and dynamic team at the Royal Free North Middlesex Heath Unit site.

The Dietetic Department is part of Therapies. We are the first Nutrition & Dietetic Department in London to commence seven-day services. You will be responsible for covering critical care unit complex, and the Nutrition Team. You will be required to liaise closely and effectively with the multidisciplinary team members.

You should have excellent communication skills, be effective in multidisciplinary team working and be able to deliver both group education and individual interventions. You will have the opportunity to be involved in research, audits. You will be required to undertake teaching/training of other health professionals. You will be involved in student training for your area.

The dietetic department undertakes student training for placements 2 and 3, and has a robust CPD programme, and are committed to providing excellent line management, supervision/support, specialist training and other forms of continuous professional development. In order to support you in this role, you would receive training and supervision tailored to your needs.

Main duties of the job

To provide service to the critical care services including the Trust Nutrition team at the Royal Free North Middlesex Health Unit site. If appropriately trained and competent to practice, to take on the extended role of non-medical prescribing. To develop and update policies and procedures.To take the lead role for the development and provision of education programmes for patients and staff within and out-with the Trust, and to develop critical care education resources.

To take the lead for producing, implementing, and updating critical care policies and procedures. To lead on and regularly participate in research and audit within critical care and the wider Dietetic Service. To participate and contribute to the Nutrition Team and provide cover for other specialist services areas as and when required. To participate in seven-day service on a Rota basis. Too undertake the planning, organisation, allocation, and training of student training for critical care.

Multidisciplinary team working, close liaison between acute and community teams, and highly developed skills in communicating with patients, carers, and other service users is essential. To be joint clinical team lead for critical care team. To be responsible for supervision of critical care and parenteral nutrition team.

About us

The Nutrition & Dietetic department is part of the Therapies Department provides a service to all inpatients and outpatients on site, serving clients from Enfield, Haringey and other boroughs. The services include General medical & surgical, Gastroenterology, Medicine for the elderly, Acute Stroke unit, Renal inpatients, Haematology, Respiratory, Dermatology, Endocrinology, Orthopaedics, Cardiology, Neurology, Urology, Intensive care, High dependency unit, HIV, Oncology including radiology and chemotherapy, Paediatric services, gynaecology and maternity.

Our aim is to:

Provide a high standard of evidence-based clinical services, to all clients who have an underlying medical condition, which requires adjustment to normal dietary intake, including those clients that require artificial nutritional support in the form of enteral (oral or tube feeding) or total parenteral nutrition

Provide education to clients, to enable short and long-term changes to their dietary intake

Educate staff, including medical staff, nurses, other AHPs, at the NMUH on evidence-based practice to enable appropriate patient care of a high standard

Liaise with catering to ensure appropriate meals are provided to inpatients

Communicate with, and engage in multidisciplinary team-working

Provide student training to ensure continuity of the profession and ensure training is a positive experience for the student.
