Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lead Nurse for Lower Gastrointestinal Cancer to lead a team of specialist nurses across Royal Free and Barnet Hospitals

We are seeking an experienced, passionate, dynamic, and forward-thinking individual to support and continue to develop the LGI cancer Service.

This role is to provide high-quality holistic service for patients who require specialist lower gastric intestinal cancer support. This is an advanced clinical role, leading and developing nursing practice within this specialty. T The successful post holder will work autonomously and lead the team to deliver specialist care appropriate to the needs of the patient group and based on principles that are research based and which enhance the quality of patient care.

This post will be responsible for the facilitation of the planning, delivery, and evaluation of care pathways for a designated group of patients. They will lead on Trust wide lower gastrointestinal cancer nursing practice and LGI straight to test diagnostic CNS service, contribute to training and education within lower gastrointestinal services.

The successful applicant will also promote an innovative and progressive attitude to the continual improvement of patient care through Clinical pathways and also reviewing the evidence base and embedding this in practice through engagement in research activities.

Main duties of the job

JOB SUMMARY:

The main purpose of this role is both to lead the Lower gastrointestinal (LGI) cancer service and be an expert practitioner in this field.

The post holder will be responsible for providing a high-quality holistic service for patients who require specialist lower gastrointestinal cancer knowledge and skills.

The postholder will work in an advanced clinical role, leading and developing nursing practice within the specialty. The postholder should be practicing at a higher level of practice competency.

They will lead on Trust wide lower gastrointestinal cancer nursing practice and LGI straight to test diagnostic CNS service

They must demonstrate a sound knowledge in lower gastrointestinal cancer practice and co-ordinate relevant clinical issues Trust wide and represent those views both internally across the working sector & externally as required.

The post holder will be a member of the relevant service group/groups and represent nursing issues accordingly. To develop and deliver specialist advice and support the service to patients requiring specialist care; this post will maintain a strong clinical component.

They will implement and lead nurse-led services, sustaining a culture change, in line with the national health service agenda related to lower gastrointestinal cancer care.

The post holder will ensure that governance processes are adhered to in all aspects of care in relation to lower cancer gastrointestinal care.
