Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Patient flow Manager to join the Royal Free Private Patients Unit (PPU). This role is central to supporting safe, timely and effective flow across the PPU, working closely with the nursing leadership team to ensure high standards of patient care and experience.

The postholder will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to oversee admissions, transfers and discharges proactively managing capacity in a fast-paced environment. This position offers the opportunity to influence day to day patient flow, contribute to service improvement, and support the delivery of safe, responsive and patient-centres care within the PPU.

Main duties of the job

Oversee safe and effective patient flow across the Private Patients Unit (PPU), ensuring timely admissions, transfers and discharges.

The post holder will provide strong operational leadership across the PPU, leading daily huddles, facilitating multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings for complex admissions, and representing the PPU at Trust-wide bed, site and staffing meetings.

The role requires close collaboration with PPU managers, senior nursing teams, consultants, medical teams, administrative services, insurers and wider multidisciplinary teams to optimise capacity, communication and operational efficiency.

The postholder will apply clinical and operational knowledge to set priorities, manage clinical and organisational risk, and support, train, and guide nursing, medical and ancillary staff.

The post holder will ensure that all responsibilities are delivered in line with the PPU's commitment to providing a high-quality private patient experience, ensuring clinical excellence, financial awareness, and outstanding patient-centred care.
