Job summary
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced and skilled midwife to join the Antenatal and New born screening team at the Royal Free Hospital. The post holder must have experience in using IT systems and knowledge of the antenatal and new born screening programmes. The post holder will also be required to cross-cover for the specialist midwives in their absences.
The post holder must ensure a high quality antenatal and new born screening service is provided for women and families within the resources available by developing, reviewing and implementing programmes in line with national evidence/recommendations on all areas covered by RFH.
This role is full time, Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm with no on-call commitments.
Main duties of the job
Provide and support antenatal screening at a service-based level within the maternity service.
To act as a Specialist Midwife in the field of antenatal and newborn screening and diagnosis.
To provide advice and assistance for health care professionals in the care of clients undergoing screening.
Have direct responsibility for overseeing the programme at local level and counselling women and their families concerning high risk results.
Provide professional clinical leadership supporting the delivery of evidenced based woman centred care in relation to antenatal and newborn screening.
Have the ability to influence decision making within the maternity service, at Trust level and with wider health care organisations who are involved in the screening process.
To work as a practising midwife within the maternity unit and provide cover for Fetal Medicine by working closely with Fetal Medicine Specialist midwife and consultant.
