Job summary
We are seeking to appoint a substantive consultant in General Paediatrics with a special interest in Child Safeguarding, as the postholder will contribute to CMPE supervision and other Safeguardingwork.
The proposed job plan is annualised based on a 42-week working year. The working pattern will includeduties covering paediatric ward for attending weeks, Ward & ED when on call, outpatient clinics & out ofhours cover. Each activity has a tariff in terms of PAs e.g., an outpatient clinic provides 1.25 PAs.
Main duties of the job
This post will participate in 1:12 weekday and weekend on call rota. The department is working towardsachieving the 14hr standard and Consultants will be expected to cover paediatric assessment unit andA&E and be resident onsite till 9 PM during weekday on calls and 6pm for weekends.
The Paediatric Department consists of a Children's Ward (24 beds), Pluto day unit (6 beds) andPaediatric outpatient clinic. The department also provides Level 1 POSCU services at this site. TheLevel 2 Neonatal Unit has 30 cots, 4 of which are equipped for intensive care, 6 High Dependency anda 4-bed transitional care ward.
