Job summary

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic maternity healthcare assistant to join the Fetal Medicine Unit team at Royal Free Hospital.

You will be required to have excellent IT skills (this will be assessed at the interview) and phlebotomy experience, with experience in working within a healthcare setting previously. You are also required to have excellent communication skills and the ability to work with a range of health professionals including midwives and doctors.

Main duties of the job

Previous experience working in a healthcare setting or within maternity would be an advantage. You will be providing support and undertake agreed healthcare assistant duties under the supervision of registered midwives, in addition to working independently. There will be support for you to develop and acquire valuable skills which will enable you to provide excellent care to patients.

Main duties of the job include: managing the fetal medicine unit ultrasound scan clinics, discussions around first trimester screening, taking blood tests (phlebotomy experience is a required skill for this role), using a computer daily to complete databases, sending patient letters and using EPR (electronic patient records) to upload documents and access patient records.
