The closing date is 24 July 2025
Job summary
** Please note that due to expected high volume of applications this post will close early once enough applications have been received**
This post is based within the psychology team of the RFL adult Oncology and Palliative Care services.
This fixed term post is funded by a grant from the NCL Cancer Alliance, to end on 31/03/2026. Under supervision from the oncology psychology team, the post holder will be responsible for the day to day running of a project to re-establish and evaluate the level 2 psychological skills training and supervision groups for the Royal Free London oncology and palliative care medical teams. The project will also develop plans for cross alliance collaboration. Level 2 training and supervision is a core part of a psycho-oncology service provision in line with NICE Supportive and Palliative Care Guidelines (2004) and Transforming Cancer Services London Team Commissioning Guidance 2020.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will assist in the implementation and evaluation of the level 2 training offer across the RFL trust sites. The project will involve communication with service leads and staff about training needs, development of organisational and booking processes, and training materials. The evaluation will involve design and implementation of evaluation measures, feedback questionnaires, and focus groups. The cross-alliance collaboration aims to explore and test models of inter-trust sharing that could include a community of practice, centralised delivery or other network wide collaboration. The post holder will be responsible for the operational functioning of a steering group chaired by the lead psychologist in the team.
The cross-alliance aspect of the role will support collaboration with equivalent cancer psychology teams at the Whittington and UCLH. The post holder will very likely be based primarily at the Royal Free Hampstead site, but there will be some requirement to travel to other sites (Hampstead, Barnet, Chase Farm, and the North Middlesex Hospital). There may be opportunity for some home working on aspects of the project delivery.
Wider roles may include assisting with clinically related project work, conducting and developing audits and/or research projects, data collection (e.g. patient experience questionnaire), and teaching.
About us

Clinical supervision and professional management are provided by the Clinical Psychologist also based in the team.
