Job summary
This post is a band 5 speech and language therapist in the specialty areas of generalmedicine (including stroke) and health services for the elderly at Barnet GeneralHospital. The post holder will be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis andtreatment of adult patients and maintaining associated records. The post holder willparticipate in teaching in the department and for other professionals. The post involvescontributing to research and audit within Speech and Language Therapy and thespecialist area.
Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of adult inpatients. Main duties of the post holder are:
To assess and treat a caseload of patients who may have complex and/or chronic presentations, as an autonomous practitioner, and maintain associated recordsTo provide a high standard of speech and language therapy assessment, diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic inpatientsTo develop effective treatment plans based on evidence-based research seeking guidance from senior speech and language therapist when necessaryTo participate in CPD using evidence-based practice, audits and published research to inform own practice and take an active role in own professional developmentTo prioritise own workload and delegate to Support Workers when appropriateTo participate in the bank holiday rota
