The purpose of the role is to lead, coordinate, deliver and evaluate the development, education and training for clinical bands 2-4 nursing and midwifery staff across the hospital site including:

The post holder must demonstrate knowledge of current issues related to bands 2-4 education delivery. It is essential to have the ability to support the co-ordination of relevant educational issues and represent those views both internally and externally as required.

Main duties of the job

Key elements of the role are to:

  • Plan, develop, facilitate and evaluate the training, educational and developmental programmes, ensuring aims and objectives meet the relevant aspects of the appropriate standards and national priorities for the bands 2-4 nursing and midwifery workforce
  • Support the recruitment and retention of Healthcare Assistants to Apprenticeship programmes including Level 2 HCSW Apprenticeship, Student Nursing Associate Apprentice (SNA) and Registered Nursing Degree Apprenticeship (RNDA) programmes
  • Facilitate the training and development of Practice Supervisors/ Practice Assessors to enable them to support SNAs and RNDAs throughout the training programme
  • Work clinically with apprentices including SNAs and RNDAs to provide support and facilitation
  • Evaluate the programmes of learning for bands 2-4 staff group including clinical apprenticeships and provide written reports
  • Keep up to date with best practice in nursing, midwifery and clinical care
  • Practice in accordance with existing standards/policies and statutory requirements
  • To provide on-going support and preceptorship for Registered Nursing Associates
  • To manage the creation and delivery of in-house and external educational offerings to support the education and career progression of bands 2-4 nursing and midwifery staff

The post-holder can develop within the role and undertake further training and development as and when required.

  • To coordinate the provision of high quality programmes that support the bands 2- 4 nursing and midwifery workforce

  • To work in partnership with the post registration nurse education team to provide N&M induction for the nursing and midwifery staff group

  • To lead and support the education practitioners (healthcare) to deliver the Care Certificate Programme

  • To work with key stakeholders to deliver and evaluate apprenticeship programmes including organising and facilitating sessions, and developing those who are enrolled on the training and educational programmes
