Job summary

This post would be well suited for an MRI radiographer wishing to develop and expand on their MRI experience. The MRI service is currently delivered at the Finchley Memorial Hospital as part of the Community Diagnostic Centre.

This site is presently hosted by the Royal Free Hospital and there may be a need to work at Hampstead Chase Farm and/or Barnet Hospital in the future.

The service is delivered on a shift basis, working 7:45am - 8pm 7 days a week

Main duties of the job

To maintain HCPC registration.

To liaise with referral sources where clarification is required regardingselection of the most clinically appropriate imaging examination.To act as a point of advice for imaging referrers.

To ensure the MRI safety of all patients and personnel within the MRIdepartment.To be able to lift and position the MRI coils accurately for each patientexamination within the MRI controlled area.To be able to sit, stand and facilitate patient transfers (bed to bed patslide) when required to undertake the MRI scan.To communicate effectively and empathetically with patients and theirescorts prior to, during, and after an examination, especially in difficultor emotional circumstances, using both verbal and non-verbalcommunication skills.To ensure patients receive a high standard of care.To acquire diagnostic images, and physically position the full range ofpatient presentations, accurately for examinations, taking into accountpatient limitations and adapting standard techniques where necessary.

To match clinical indications presented by the referrer to an appropriatedepartmental protocol.To protocol MRI Requests for both in and out patients as perdepartmental guidelines and to select the correct protocol and time forscan as per the clinical indications.
